Colonial developed a solution to replace all of the metal halide hi-bays with 8-lamp 42W compact fluorescent hi-bays. Each fixture included four separate ballasts. Each ballast is wired to four separate switches. This system allows users to switch light levels and create multiple lighting atmospheres and also saved Penn State on their energy costs because the new lighting system required fewer watts to run. The energy saving based on $.10/kW was $15,785 per year. The total installation cost with material and labor was $36,550. |
