The Reading Hospital had once enjoyed their existing Hydrel fountain lights, but after years of use, the lights had rusted and some of the lights had gone bad. Changing the light bulbs of those lights that were still good required a lot of labor and time because they had to empty the fountain and waste 1500 gallons of water. The bulbs needed to be changed every 5-6 months and the Hospital was considering closing the fountain altogether.
Colonial Electric was able to work with the facility group at the hospital to help them reduce the amount of labor needed to keep the fountain running and also reduce the amount of energy used while maintaining the light output needed to accent the fountain. The hospital decided to switch over the 500PAR64 floods to submersible LED flood lights. The lights have a 2000 hour lamp life and only consume 3200 watts total as compared to the previous lighting which consumed 20,000 watts.
The hospital saved so much time and money per year that they were also able to purchase software that changes the color of the LEDs within the fountain, making it more of a show piece then previously anticipated. Now people sit and watch the fountain nightly to view its color-changing show. |
