Baptist Church
Reading, Pennsylvania

A Baptist Church illuminated its chapel with a number of recessed cans and large pendant lights. The pendant lights and the recessed cans were not energy efficient, were cumbersome, time- and labor-intensive to maintain. If a bulb needed to be replaced, it was expensive and difficult to change without interfering with normal church activity. Colonial, working with a preferred electrical contractor, redesigned the area so that no recessed cans or pendants were needed to light the chapel. Instead, indirect fluorescent lighting was used along the beams and edges of the church to illuminate the area. The existing white ceiling was used a reflector to spread the light throughout the whole chapel. The Church also added a high lumen dimmer and graphic eye lighting control to create moods and scenes for different activities that happen in the church. The Baptist church was able to reduce the number of fixtures and reduce the amount of energy used to light the church and get a payback on their investment in less then one year.
