Bulk Mail Facility-Government

This government owned building was interested in replacing their current 350W Metal Halide fixtures in their paper separating area. The space was being renovated to bring the technology up to speed with similar bulk mail facilities in the area. Superior light quality is required in this area to decrease strain on employees’ eyes and to enhance security camera visibility. The jobs coordinator also required that they have the ability to turn on only a couple lights at a time dependant on the activity being performed, which they were unable to do at the time. The renovation included installing a bi-level lighting system with T8 fluorescent lights which allowed them to turn on 2, 4, 6 or all 8 lamps at a time. This upgrade increased their light quality while decreasing their wattage by 50%. The result is approximate savings of $4000 per year, and the ability to make future additions without the need to replace any transformers or other gear since no extra power will be needed. The project’s coordinator is now looking to make similar renovations to their entire 300 fixture building.
