A local steel manufacturer was having issues with power outages and needed an energy-efficient solution to prevent blackouts. The blackouts were a safety issue that worried the owners. Currently, they were operating 1000W metal halide fixtures that took between 15 and 20 minutes to start up. The company needed a large amount of light and also the ability to replace the current fixtures. Colonial Electric developed a solution that incorporated hi-bay fixtures scattered throughout the production facility that used 54W 6-lamp T5 high output lamps that would instantly light when started. The lamps were placed on a separate circuit to maintain instant light levels in an emergency. The company was especially happy with the design and light output when emergencies occurred.
