In 1994 Colonial's King of Prussia Distribution Center and Headquarters became the first electrical distributor in Pennsylvania to become ISO 9001:2000 certified by Underwriters Laboratories.
ISO is an international organizational standard that measures quality as a process. Colonial measures seven processes that have been identified by our customers as most valuable to them. Achieving the utmost quality and "zero defects" allows us to be the low cost provider to our customers.
Having participated in Philips Crosby Quality training for years, Colonial naturally progressed to Official Quality Certification so as to differentiate itself from those distributors who talked a lot about quality systems, but never actually implemented them.
Training is given the highest priority. Personal, computer and hands on training are all common place at Colonial. Departmental staff meet regularly to ensure quality processes are correct and running smoothly.
